Jerry C. Alexander

Mr. Alexander worked in Washington D.C. after undergraduate school before going into the United States Army. He has been practicing law since 1972. Mr. Alexander joined the firm as a third-year law student and has been with the firm ever since. He has handled complex business litigation for over 30 years in the areas of antitrust, business torts, patents, trade secrets, unfair competition and labor-related business issues. He has also been involved in major litigation pertaining to officer, director, and professional liability. He also practices before federal agencies, including the FTC and FAA.
Mr. Alexander’s recent accomplishments include:
- Representing a bankruptcy trustee to recover claims against a bankrupt corporation's parent, its competitors and certain individuals, resulting in recoveries over $55 million.
- Representing a company in a dispute with its lender/factor resulting in a judgment in excess of $25 million. The first judgment for lender liability in the Northern District of Texas in 37 years.
- Successfully litigating to jury and verdict a claim against an insurer which refused to pay under computer fraud coverage and held the judgment through appeals to the Dallas Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court.
- Mr. Alexander headed the Dallas Bar Association drafting project for the Local Rules of Practice in the Civil District and County Courts at Law Courts for Dallas County, which are presently in use; served as co-chair of the Judiciary Committee of the Dallas Bar Association in 1997 and again in 2008; was secretary-treasurer of the Dallas Bar Association in 2008; and was chair of the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program Campaign in 2010. He also chaired the Vision 2020 Project for the Dallas Bar Association. Elected to serve on the board of directors of the Dallas Bar Association for the two-year term, 2009 to 2010, and a subsequent two-year term from 2011 to 2012, he was elected vice-chair of the board of directors in 2011 and chair of the board of directors in 2012, and was elected as the 107th president of the Dallas Bar Association in 2016.
- He was elected as Director of District 6, Place 3 of the State Bar of Texas in 2017.
- He became the Chair of the Board of the State Bar of Texas for the 2019-2020 term. He was selected by the nomination committee of the State Bar of Texas to run for President Elect of the State Bar of Texas in 2023 and garnered 47-1/2% of the vote.
