1963

President John F. Kennedy, the nation’s 35th president, was assassinated in a motorcade traveling west on Elm Street in Dealey Plaza. Texas Gov. John F. Connally was also hit but recovered from his wounds. The president was raced to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was administered last rites and pronounced dead at 1:00. The assassination is still largely debated by conspiracy theorists, in part due to the 26-second home movie footage shot by Abraham Zapruder, Sam Passman’s client.
